Account and data deletion
How to ask us to delete your Zappsy account and the personal information held in it. You do not need to be signed in to make this request.
In the app
If you can sign in, you can request deletion in the app itself: tap your initials in the top corner to open your profile, then choose Delete my account. The app explains what is deleted and what has to be kept before you confirm.
By email
Email hello@zappsy.co.uk with the subject “Delete my account”, from the email address linked to your Zappsy account.
We will confirm we have received your request and check it really came from you, to protect your account.
We delete your account and information, and confirm to you when it is done, including anything that has to be kept for a set period and why.
What we delete
When we action your request, we delete or anonymise the personal information we hold about you and your family, including:
- Your account and sign-in details.
- Your family and child details.
- Receipt photographs and uploaded statements.
- Mileage logs.
- Messages between you and your coordinator.
What we may need to keep
Because Zappsy handles public money, some financial records may have to be kept for a set period even after your account is closed, to meet the council's requirements and the rules for financial records. Where that applies, we keep only what we must, keep it secure, and delete it when the period ends. We will tell you exactly what is being kept and for how long when we confirm your deletion.
How long it takes
We aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days of confirming your identity, and we will tell you when it is done.
Deleting your account does not end your obligations under the direct payment scheme itself. If you are leaving the scheme, your coordinator will explain what happens to your budget. For more on how we handle your information, see our privacy policy.
