Terms of use

These terms apply to the Zappsy app and the website at www.zappsy.co.uk. Zappsy is operated by Kernow Accountancy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 12125991, whose registered office is at Kernow House, Water-Ma-Trout, Helston, Cornwall, TR13 0LW. The app is built by Fourteen Seed. By using Zappsy you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What Zappsy is

Zappsy helps families manage the EOTAS (education otherwise than at school) direct payment budgets they receive from their council. It lets you log spending, send in receipts and statements, track mileage, and message your coordinator. Zappsy helps you manage and evidence a budget. It does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice, and it does not make decisions about your budget. Decisions about the scheme and your budget are made by the council, not by Zappsy.

Access is by invitation only

Zappsy is not open for public sign-up. Accounts are created by invitation only: your coordinator sets up your family account. You may be able to download the app from Google Play, and from the Apple App Store in time, but you can only create or access an account if you have been invited to the scheme.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has gained access to it.

Using Zappsy responsibly

• Use Zappsy only for lawful purposes and as intended.
• Make sure the information and documents you upload are accurate and genuinely relate to your budget and spending. Zappsy evidences the spending of public money, so accuracy matters.
• Do not upload fraudulent, malicious, or unlawful content, do not try to access other families' information, and do not interfere with how the service works.

If these terms are broken we may suspend or end access to the service, and where the law requires it we may have to report concerns to the council or other authorities.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Zappsy available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee it will always be uninterrupted or error free, and we may carry out maintenance or change or withdraw features. We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can. If Zappsy is unavailable, your obligations under the direct payment scheme itself continue, so keep your paper receipts safe until they are logged.

Intellectual property

The Zappsy app and website, including their design, text, graphics, and logos, are owned by Kernow Accountancy Ltd and Fourteen Seed and are protected by law. You keep ownership of the content you upload, such as your receipts and statements, and you give us permission to store and process it in order to provide the service.

Our responsibility to you

We provide Zappsy with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights.

Data protection

How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: your information is used only to run the service, other families can never see it, and it is never sold or used for advertising.

Ending your use of Zappsy

You can ask to close your account at any time, and we may suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if the scheme requires it. You can request account and data deletion on our account deletion page without needing to sign in. Some financial records may need to be kept for a set period after an account closes, as the privacy policy explains.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
